About the Adult MHFA England Course

​

When you train with me to become a Mental Health First Aider®, you’ll get three years of certification and the option to join the Association of Mental Health First Aiders® for ongoing support and benefits.

​

This course is perfect if you want to learn how to spot the signs of someone struggling with their mental health, feel confident starting a conversation, and know how to guide them towards the right support.

​

You’ll also join the largest community of Mental Health First Aiders in England, with access to helpful resources, ongoing learning, and 24/7 digital support—giving you everything you need to feel ready and supported in your role, whether that’s at work, volunteering, or in everyday life.

​Course outcomes
As an MHFAider®, you'll come away with the skills to:

  • Recognise when someone might be struggling with their mental health and offer first-level support

  • Encourage people to find the right kind of help and support

  • Practise active listening and empathy

  • Talk confidently and sensitively about mental health, using the right language and challenging stigma

  • Understand your role as an MHFAider®, including clear boundaries and confidentiality

  • Look after your own wellbeing too

  • Use the MHFAider Support App® to stay connected and supported
    (You’ll get temporary access to the app during the course.)

  • Access ongoing support, including a dedicated text service and learning opportunities from MHFA England

 

Course format
This course can be delivered online or face-to-face and is spread over four flexible sessions. Each session lasts up to 3 hours and 45 minutes and the full course takes about 14 hours in total. Sessions can be delivered over a two-week period.

We’ll learn together through a mix of live instructor-led sessions, group discussions, and hands-on activities. Each session builds on the last, so your confidence will grow as you learn to apply the Mental Health First Aid action plan.

To make sure everyone feels supported while learning, I keep the group size to a maximum of 16 people. I also do my best to make the course content inclusive and accessible to everyone.

Cost

This course costs £325 per person, but discounts may be available for charities, schools, CICs, and support services. If you're looking to train a group of 10 or more, feel free to get in touch for a tailored quote.

Becoming a qualified MHFAider®
After completing the course, you’ll also have the option to test your knowledge and gain the RSPH Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid—an internationally recognised qualification that helps build even more confidence in your role.
